José Carlos Mariátegui (June 14, 1894–April 16, 1930) was a Peruvian communist author, sociologist, historian, journalist, and theorist. A Marxist–Leninist, he founded the Communist Party of Peru and sought to apply Marxism–Leninism to Peruvian conditions.[1]
