Ba'athism,[a] also spelt Baathism, is a reactionary pan-Arabist tendency found across several parties in the Arab world. It is staunchly anti-communist and takes direct influence from European fascism.[citation needed]
Historically unified, Ba'athism is split between pro-Syrian, or Assadist, and pro-Iraqi, or Saddamist, factions.[citation needed]
