William Z. Foster (February 25, 1881–September 1, 1961) was an American communist labor organizer and revolutionary. From 1945 to 1957, he served as General Secretary of the Communist Party of the United States, succeeding Earl Browder. Despite his early revolutionary positions, William Z. Foster would later adopt centrist and opportunist positions in support of Soviet revisionism.[1]
