Mao Zedong (Chinese: 毛泽东, 26 December 1893 – 9 September 1976)[a] was a Chinese politician who acted as Chairman of the Communist Party of China from 1943 until his death in 1976. He is considered the founder of the People's Republic of China and is a core figure in Mao Zedong Thought and Maoism.
