Blanquism is an opportunist tendency founded by Louis-Auguste Blanqui which calls for a conspiratorial clique to lead the socialist revolution as opposed to a communist party with roots in class struggle and connection with the masses.

Relationship between Blanquism and Marxism

Marxists, particularly adherents of the Leninist concept of the vanguard party, are sometimes called by anarchists and other nominal socialists "Blanquists" for, among other reasons, treating revolution as a form of art. This comparison is false as Marxism is staunchly opposed to conspiracies to seize power and instead relies on mass support.[1]
