Democracy[a] is a system under which the majority of the population has rule over the state, or more particularly the class the has control of the state. Democracy has multiple forms, including bourgeois and proletarian democracy, only the latter of which is truly ruled by the majority of the population. Under class society, democracy is only able to be realized for the exploiting minority of the population, with the exploited class being subjected to the dictatorship of the ruling strata through the oppressive institutions of the state.Cite error: Closing </ref> missing for <ref> tag
