Great Soviet Encyclopedia
The Great Soviet Encyclopedia (GSE)[a] was the first general-purpose Marxist–Leninist encyclopedia and one of the largest Russian-language encyclopedias in general. It was published in Moscow by the Soviet Encyclopedia Publishing House from 1926 until 1990, when its publication ceased due to the dissolution of the Soviet Union. It contains around 100,000 articles and about 35,000 illustrations within 30 volumes.[1]
