The International Communist League (ICL) is an international grouping of Marxist–Leninist–Maoist parties founded in December 2022.[1] The ICL upholds Abimael Guzmán of the Shining Path and believes that protracted people's war is a universal military theory.[2] The ICL published the online newspaper Communist International.

History

Maoist global organizations have previously existed, such as the Revolutionary Internationalist Movement (RIM). During this same decade, numerous Gonzalo-adjacent organizations began springing up in Europe and Latin America.

In January 2022, communications were published on a Dutch Maoist blog, Communist International, expressing interest between multiple parties for a "Unified Maoist International Conference (UMIC)." In December 2022, it was declared that the conference resulted in the creation of a new International Communist League.
