Anti-revisionism Abimael Guzmán (3 December 1934 – 11 September 2021), also known as Chairman Gonzalo, was a Peruvian communist leader who was Chairman of the Communist Party of Peru from 1969 until his capture in 1992.

Gonzalo is best known for leading a protracted people's war against the Peruvian comprador government and synthesizing the contributions of Mao Zedong into the modern framework of Marxism–Leninism–Maoism. For these reasons, he is upheld as a foundational theorist of Marxism by many Maoists.
