In 1932 the party participated and got 1.1% of the vote and won 2 seats in the Danish Parliament (folketinget), it would be the first time the party would get any representation. It would increase to 1.9% in 1935 as working conditions would get harsher during this time period in Denmark. In 1939 the party would get 2.4% of the vote, but Denmark would get occupied by Nazi Germany in on the 9th of April 1940, the party was still legally allowed to participate in elections, but 300 communists were arrested by the police on the 22nd of June 1941, following the German invasion of the Soviet Union the party was outlawed.
