The Communist Party of Indonesia (Indonesian: Partai Komunis Indonesia, PKI) was a communist party in the Dutch East Indies, which would later become Indonesia. It was the largest communist party in the world, behind the Communist Party of China and the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, with over two million members by 1955.

A once revolutionary party, it fought the Japanese in the Second World Warand fought in the Indonesian National Revolution as a member of the People's Democratic Front of Indonesia. The party would later fall into reformism, by renouncing armed struggle in 1952, and revisionism and relied heavily on the "socialist" pro-Soviet and pro-China leader of Indonesia, Sukarno. Although the PKI attempted to rectify these errors, it was too late as the Suharto-led government, with the help of right-wing death squads, led a massacre on the PKI and other ethnic groups that supported the PKI, essentialy destroying the party.
