Liberation Caucus
Liberation Caucus is a revisionist, nominally Marxist–Leninist–Maoist caucus within the Democratic Socialists of America. It was formed on April 25, 2025.[1]
Criticism
Reformism
The Liberation Caucus is a effectively a reformist formation. They seek to gradually turn existing DSA cells "left" while ignoring the fact that DSA is an organization inherently tied to capitalist interests and grounded in support for the reactionary Democratic Party.
Stance on Gonzalo
The Liberation Caucus, while nominally supporting Chairman Gonzalo, refuse to acknowledge his contributions to Maoism and his role in defining it. They furthermore claim that he was the subject of a "cult of personality".
In tandem with this, Liberation Caucus attacks formations which fully uphold Gonzalo like the United States Red Guards as "cults", using anti-Maoist propaganda to support this claim.
Settler-colonialism
In their points of unity, Liberation Caucus claims that settler-colonialism is the "primary contradiction" in the United States, despite the fact that mass social bribery of settlers with indigenous land no longer takes place.[2]
