Counter-revolutions of 1989
(Redirected from Fall of communism)

The counter-revolutions of 1989[a] was the finalization of the process of capitalist restoration in the revisionist states which were part of the Eastern Bloc and Warsaw Pact. In the decades prior, socialism fell in these countries with the rise of revisionism and dismantlement of the proletarian dictatorship.
The counter-revolutionary events lasted in their main phase from 1988 to 1991. It was the final phase of the ruling new bourgeoisie to restore capitalism. Previously, these governments presented themselves as socialist states to maintain their rule.
