The inexhaustible heart of the people nourished them with sober sustenance and set them in motion; the class struggle shaped their minds, and the Party, as the first and highest social form, elevated their political con- sciousness by arming it with Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, guiding thought. It strengthened their combativeness by organizing them into the Popular Guerrilla Army and fusing them with the masses of the poor peasantry, forging their bodies and spirits in the unquenchable forge of people’s war. Becoming prisoners of war, they never kneeled, and persisting in fighting, mobilizing, and producing in fervent struggles, they transformed the sordid dungeons of the decaying and rotten Peruvian state into luminous trenches of combat.

The forceful, accurate, and relentless blows of the people’s war and its unstoppable advance shook the reactionary forces to their very core, reverberating as incessant lashes and urgent demands in the murky and agitated nightmares of the now fascist and corporate Aprista government, especially in the unbridled ambitions of the demagogue apprentice “fûhrer” who leads it. Thus, the reactionaries, the government, and the now genocidal García Pérez dreamed bloody and dark plans for a devastating and decisive blow that would crush the people’s war. The rebellion of the prisoners of war is the public unmasking and condemnation, before the world, of these sinister plans for mass slaughter, in defense of the revolution and their own lives. The monstrous and infamous genocide, perpetrated by the armed forces and repressive apparatuses under governmental mandate and with a blank check, collided with the unbending, iron-clad ferocious resistance of the comrades, fighters, and children of the masses who bravely displayed ideology, courage, and heroism in a fiery military challenge. And while the reactionary beast drank blood to the point of satiety in order to impose the peace of the dead, the lives miserably and wickedly extinguished transformed into imperishable symbols, embodying the monumental trilogy of the luminous combat trenches of El Front´on, Lurigancho, and Callao. This historic milestone will further proclaim the greatness of the Day of Heroism.

The intended devastating and decisive blow ended up falling on the heads of those who conceived it, sinking the aprista, fascist, and corporate government, as well as the individual who acts as president, violating the norms of their state, resulting in a severe political crisis and great discredit from which they still cannot recover. Thus, the rebellion of the prisoners of war, at the cost of their own lives, achieved a magnificent moral, political, and military triumph for the Party and the revolution. Furthermore, they notably contributed to the success of completing the great leap with a golden seal and laid the foundations for the new plan to develop bases, of which the first campaign has been the most significant upheaval of the Peruvian state to this day and the greatest repercussion of the people’s war, both within and outside the country. Therefore, the prisoners of war, like characters from history, continue to win battles beyond death, as they live on and fight within us, conquering new victories. We feel their strong and indelible presence, pulsating and luminous, teaching us today, tomorrow, and always to give our lives for the Party and the revolution.
