The United States government, particularly the Department of Defense and Central Intelligence Agency, are heavily influential in Hollywood and regularly manipulate or censor the contents of film productions and scripts to serve and influence public opinion in favor of imperialist interests.[1][2]

As of 2017, the United States Department of Defense conceded to having modified the scripts of over 400 major film releases. Many of these films benefited from the direct support of the United States military equipment or personnel in their production, a fact that the government exploited to force script rewrites to the films.[3]
