The People's Republic of Bulgaria[a] was a people's democracy in Eastern Europe which between 1946 until its dissolution in 1990. It was under the leadership of the Bulgarian Communist Party with Georgi Dimitrov as one of its foundational leaders. It later fell under the revisionist leadership of Todor Zhivkov.
