Adolf Taimi (21 September 1881 – 1 November 1955) was a Finnish-Soviet politician and Revolutionary serving as chairman of the presidium of the supreme Soviet of the Karelo-Finnish SSR from 1947-1955.[1]
Early Life
Adolf Taimi has been arrested multiple times, 1906 he was arrested due to his membership in the bolshevik party, after he fled he met Nadezhda Krupskaya, Lenin's wife, she sent him to Helsinki due to his linguistic skills as he was apparently assigned to work in Bolshevik Military Committee which was located in Helsinki as he'd make contact with the communist wing of the Social Democratic Party of Finland which had been split into 2 factions, Marxist Leninist and Social Facist.
Finnish Civil War

During the Finnish Civil War, Taimi served as the delegate for internal affairs of the Finnish People's Delegation, Due to the German Intervention, the Red Guard's were rapidly loosing ground due to the much more well organized German Imperial Army which were assisting the White Guards. With the total collapse of the front, Adolf Taimi, Otto Kuusinen, Kullervo Manner and other notable Red Finns evacuated to Soviet Russia and Soviet Karelia, Later formed as Karelo-Finnish Soviet Socialist Republic.
Post Civil War
After the civil war Adolf Taimi began doing underground work in Finland between 1922–23 as well as in 1927–1928 for the Communist Party of Finland. He was also an active member of the Comintern, his work was interrupted when he was caught and arrested in Finland being sentenced to 15 years in prison for "treason".[2]
In 1940 he was handed over to the Soviet authorities after the Armistice was signed between Finland and USSR ending the Winter War.
Work in Soviet Karelia
After his release he served in the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union and in 1947 chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the Karelian-Finnish Soviet Republic.[3]
Adolf Taimi died at the age of 78 years old.
