The European Union (EU) is a transnational imperialist economic, political, and military union of 27 European countries. It was founded in the form of the European Coal and Steel Community in 1952 and has existed in its current form since 1992. The European Union is dominated by wealthy Western European states such as France and Germany and exploits member states in Eastern Europe in various forms. The EU functions to allow the unimpeded exportation of capital and movement of migrant labor through the Schengen Area.[1]

The European Union functions as a neoliberal and anti-communist confederation, requiring all member countries have capitalist economies.[2] In January 2025, the European Parliament adopted a resolution which conflated communism with Nazism on the basis of pseudo-historical narratives and called for the ban of all communist symbols.[3]
