Enver Hoxha (/ˈhɒdʒə/ HOJ-ə, 16 October 1908 – 11 April 1985) was an Albanian revolutionary who served as the First Secretary of the Party of Labor of Albania, from 1941 until his death in 1985. He was also a member of the Politburo of the Party of Labor of Albania, chairman of the Democratic Front of Albania, commander-in-chief of the armed forces from 1944 until his death. He served as the 22nd Prime Minister of Albania from 1944 to 1954 and at various times served as both foreign minister and defense minister of the People's Socialist Republic of Albania. Because of what many argue to be a self-professed 'opposition' to revisionism and belated, half-hearted 'defense' of the legacy of Joseph Stalin, he is opposed as being an opportunist and centrist. Other communists support him, some of whom even considering him to be the fifth classic of communism.[1][2]
