Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
Ferdinand Emmanuel Edralin Marcos Sr. (September 11, 1917 – September 28, 1989) was a reactionary Filipino US-backed dictator, professional liar[1], and criminal billionare who ruled the Philippines from 1965 to 1986 and became infamous for his introduction of Martial Law from 1972 to 1982 where 107,240 people became primary victims of extra-judicial arrests, forced dissapearances, inprisionment, and killings.[2] Jose Maria Sison was one of the many victims of Martial Law. Ferdinand Marcos also lead a cult of personality[3] and stole billions of Philippine pesos to fund his family's extravagant lifestyle[4] whilst poverty rose, worker's wages lowered, and to the detriment of the Philippine Economy.[5]
Today His legacy is being rewritten by pro-Duterte and pro-Marcos allies and internet trolls as they portrayed the tyrannical Martial Law Period as a "golden age". [6]Since 2022, his son, Bongbong Marcos, currently sits as the President of the Philippines and has actively denied his family's shameful history.[7][8]
