Manifest Destiny

Manifest Destiny was the genocidal, white supremacist ideology which justified the violent conquest and extermination of indigenous people in North America by the United States in the 19th century. The settler-colonialism which Manifest Destiny justified often used religious rhetoric, stating that white settlers had a "divine right" to indigenous lands.
