Neoliberalism is the capitalist economic ideology pursued by various countries starting in the late 20th century. It entails the systemic reversal of social safety nets, mass privatization, austerity, and the targeting of forms of proletarian representation and bargaining such as trade unions. Neoliberalism is the current system of most capitalist countries.
