The people's army is an organ of the revolutionary movement which is commanded by the communist party to disseminate propaganda among the masses, organizing them, arming them, and helping them to establish revolutionary political power and setting up party organizations.[1]

"Without a people's army the people have nothing." —Mao Zedong[2]

Theory

The people's army is one of the three major tools of a revolutionary army, alongside the vanguard party and united front.

In the theory of concentric construction as formulated by Chairman Gonzalo, the people's army is built around the communist party while the united front is built around the people's army.
