Revolupedia:Notability

From Revolupedia
Jump to navigation Jump to search

On Revolupedia, notability is required for all topics detailed on the encyclopedia, with certain exceptions (see below). In general, any given topic should have at least moderate coverage by multiple third-party sources. These sources may be apolitical but are encouraged to be socialist in perspective. Coverage should amount to at least several paragraphs dedicated to the subject in question.

Without proper notability, a page on Revolupedia may be subject to deletion. Articles on a subject without notability which are made with self-promotional intent may result in sanctions on the offending editor.

Exceptions

Several exceptions are made for special topics. In these cases, editors may freely document them to the fullest.

  • Topics relating to Revolupedia and related projects.
    • Topics relevant to the history of Revolupedia (e.g. Leftypedia, a project which many future Revolupedia editors would be apart of, and the Red Spectre, the organization which formerly owned Revolupedia).
  • Ideologically-aligned (see our principles) content creators with a reasonable following (e.g. several hundred subscribers on YouTube).
  • Other, context-relevant topics which are useful for readers to be aware of (e.g. pseudo-communists, cultic and dangerous groups, etc.).
  • Topics which are of historical importance to the revolutionary communist movement.

Purpose

The purpose of maintaining rules relating to notability is to ensure Revolupedia focuses on topics relevant to the global working class and communist revolutionaries. Without reasonable standards, our project would quickly degenerate into detailing irrelevant topics which would ultimately destroy the quality of our content.
