The Argentine Republic,[a] commonly known as Argentina, is a capitalist state located in South America. It is the second largest geographically and third most populous country in South America.

The territory that would become Argentina was inhabited by indigenous populations since prehistoric times. By the 16th century, the area was subjected to Spanish colonization and would become an independent state in 1816 during a bourgeois revolution. In the mid-to-late 20th century, Argentina would be under the fascistic rule of Juan Perón and was succeeded by a military junta supported by the United States that would last until 1983.[1] After several decades of neoliberal governance, Argentina would fall under the libertarian regime of Javier Milei in 2023 which continues into the present.[2]
